Election Recap: What Now? (Hint: What It's Always Been!)[Updated for 2025]
Whether your person or issue won or lost, there's work to be done. Read on to find out what and how.
If you’ve been on social media over the last few weeks, you know that emotions are high and all over the map. Whether you hopped online to celebrate or commiserate, my message to you is the same. Roll up your sleeves. You worked hard, whether your person or issue won or lost. You talked your candidate or cause up, encouraged people to vote, gave rides to people so they could exercise their civic duty. But as we posited in the episode, The Real MVP, were you this passionate about talking Jesus up? Telling people about what He has done for them through his redemptive work on the cross?
Are you giving rides so people can get to church to learn more about Him or worship Him? In the episode, Prepare for Takeoff, we said this earthly stuff only happens every so often. But there is a day that is coming with certainty, and that is the day we need to roll up our sleeves and work toward now.
On that day, there won’t be candidates that win or lose. That’s already happened. God has won the victory over sin and death, according to 1 Corinthians 15. And His followers are called the elect. And, Satan, well, he’s the sore loser condemned to a lake of fire and wants you to join him.
Read Revelation chapters 19 through 22 for a description so vivid you know it’s not the campaign you want to be working for. Heaven is also described in figurative language, depicting a place so peaceful and so beautiful. Our finite minds need verbal pictures to even begin to imagine it, and even then cannot do it justice.
Which camp do you want to be in?
Read 2 Peter 1:10. Elections are important, but it’s the one that says, “make your calling and election sure.”
What do you want your eternal reward to be? Isn’t it worth the effort — and more — that you put into worldly endeavors?
Let’s discuss it in the comments belo
