Waiting on the World to Change? Be the Change!
John Mayer sang “Waiting on the World to Change,” but Gandhi said “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
In the biblical book of Esther, her people had been taken captive several generations before the narrative begins.
Through a unique set of circumstances, she not only rises to be queen, but she also saves her people. You may have heard the expression, “For such a time as this,” which is taken directly from Esther 4:14.
How can we apply this to us?
We may never be in a position of influence like Esther was, but what are we doing with the resources we do have?
Can we look around us and see small needs daily?
I read a book where one of the protagonists would check on his neighbor each Saturday and help her with her groceries. And I’m sure you’ve seen some of those really cute viral videos where neighborhood teens go and help their neighbors with mowing their lawns. Sadly, many of us don’t even know our neighbors.
John Mayer sang “Waiting for the World to Change,” but Gandhi said “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
In our small spheres of influence, what can we do to help others? Lighten a load? Brighten someone’s day? If we all do something, collectively or individually, it can make a difference. Let’s resolve to try to change the world for good.
What will you do today? Be sure to chime in below!
